What does Brexit mean if your looking to buy property in Cyprus?
Buying a property in Cyprus is not affected
You can still buy and own a property in Cyprus just as before Brexit. Britain leaving the EU has not affected your right to buy or own property in Cyprus as it doesn’t come under EU contract.
Access to Healthcare in Cyprus
You can continue to use your EHIC/S1 card up until the transition period (31 December 2020) is over. After the transition period, it’s possible a reciprocal healthcare arrangement will remain in place but this is yet to be confirmed. If not you will need private healthcare if you are living in Cyprus or travel insurance if you are holidaying in Cyprus.
It’s worth noting, many ex-pats have private medical insurance in Cyprus as the private hospitals and healthcare are of a very high standard and come recommended by many British nationals living in Cyprus.

Moving to Cyprus in 2020
If you are moving to Cyprus in 2020, before the transition period, register you and your family as a resident at the town hall. This will give you and your family the same rights to live, work and study in Cyprus just as you could before Brexit for as long as you want. You will get access to free or subsidised healthcare.

Moving to Cyprus after 2020
From the 1st January 2021 you will most likely have to get a visa in order to move to Cyprus. It should be a simple and straightforward procedure if you’re looking to retire and don’t need to work.
For people seeking employment when they move to Cyprus, there’s likely to be a working visa procedure as there will for Cypriots looking to work in the UK.
